CentralanUK #19
CentralanUK brings you a new event for 2008 continuing the success of CLUK events. The new events (taking place in February and October) will still be run under the CLUK banner and with some of the same staff that you already know so well, but not only will the events be taking place in a new venue, but as we recognise the need to move with the times and the current UK gaming scene, therefore they will be run quite differently to what you have previously come to expect from CentralanUK.
So what’s different?
For the last five years we’ve been striving to maintain a balance between people who want to go to a LAN just to chill out and enjoy themselves with some relaxed gaming and those who go to be the best and win in a competitive environment. It’s been a hard balance to maintain and the bigger the event, the harder that balance is to achieve. So we’ve decided to draw a line down the middle of the event, physically and metaphorically and provide almost two separate events to cater for both types of gamer. Each “side” of the event will have its own dedicated staff team there to provide game programmes and activities and look after the participants’ needs in those areas. That said, the venue will be the same, the network will be the same so there will be nothing stopping you joining in the activities of either area.
We also recognise that console gaming is becoming a bigger part of LAN gaming, and as well as us providing an improved range of games on our projectors we will be providing a BYOX area for XBOX360 gamers to come along and enjoy fun and tournament gaming in a LAN environment, again a member of the staff team will be dedicated to looking after this area of the event.
We’ll also be looking to provide more for you to do at the event, not only at your PC but by bringing along indoor and outdoor activities to give you a break from your PC over the weekend.
The Venue
The new events will be taking place at Uttoxeter Racecourse, Staffordshire in the Grandstand. Initially occupying the exhibition hall of the stand, the new venue caters for just about every thing that a gamer needs from a LAN party and gives us room for much bigger events to expand in to.

Initially the capacity of the events will be around 160 people, however three large rooms are available to us as well as various smaller rooms with the later intention being to give each of the gaming areas (Tournament, Fun, Console) their own physical room linked together via our core network.
It’s going to be a really exciting time for us and all of our participants; we look forward to welcoming you all to our latest event offering early in 2008.
The event takes place from 29th Feb - 2nd March starting at 4pm on Friday running through until 6pm Sunday and costs just £45
